Silenced Acoustic Drum Kit or Electronic Kit?
Ok i'll try make this short :) I would like to upgrage my Roland hd-1 v-drums lite, this time i want an acoustic kit. But the only way that's possible is if i silence the snare and toms with vic firth silencer (not the cymbals and bass) But i know this takes away the rebound, so is it best to go with a Roland TD9k2 (as my budget is about £1200) or a silenced acoustic kit. The main question is which has the better feel (closer to acoustics) I was thinking of getting some Sabian AAX stage cymbals for about £540 and the best kit i can get for about £660. This is only if the best option is acoustic drums. Any advice on kit and cymbals would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!
The TD-9's will play better than acoustics with silencers. I think the big question is what are your drumming plans for the future. If you plan to play at home only for years to come the TD-9's are the way to go. If you want to start playing in a band or just jamming with others in the near future then acoustics are a better option. Could you just keep the Lites and buy an acoustic set? That way you could have an acoustic set but still could throw on some head phones and practice on the V-drums. Of course space might be an issue with two sets. Really it just comes down to what you plan to do with them.
