i've only played with vic firth 2b's and i break them after like 8 hours of playing, and really they start...?
start to get mushy after like 5 hours. whats up, can i get more durable sticks and if so, where can i buy them? the ones i buy are vic firth, american classic 2b. they seem heavy and from what i've heard, tear drop hickory 2's is as durable as i can get. does any one know what else would be good for me or is that much life about average for a stick. thx i wear earplugs, which is good for my hearing- but i think it makes me play lounder/harder. i'll work on the not so hard theory. thx
Hey.... Dont feel too bad about being a hard hitter drummer. I'm one too. I've played mostly rock & metal so you know how loud we are. Anyways...I've tried all different brands of drum sticks in my time. I've tried Tama, Regal Tip, Ziljian and Vic Firth drumsticks back in the late 1980s too when I started drumming. I've snapped them all like twigs because I play drums so hard. However....There is one brand of drumsticks I CANNOT break...if I do break em. It'll take like 6 months before I even break a stick. Seriously...check out Pro-Mark Drum sticks. www.promarkdrumsticks.com The ONLY brand of drumsticks I use are the Pro- Mark Japanese OAK 2B drumsticks with nylon tips on them. You need to know that OAK wood is much more stronger & more durable than Hickory wood. They are only $9 a pair & will last you a very long time no matter how hard you play drums. Those Vic Firth drum sticks are made of Hickory wood...that might be why you're breaking them so fast. I do occasionally do also use Vic Firth too, but they are only the Marching Corp big sticks. That's it really. Hope this helps
