My drum sounds like shhhhhhh*******ttt..........any help?
So I got my first ever drum set a month ago - It's Ludwig Accent CS Combo. And the snare, and Floor tom sounds really bad. I've tried tuning it alot of times but still no luck. Now, Evans heads are for sale here in our local music store. What model of Evans do you recommend I use for my snare and floor tom? Btw I already have a one choice for my snare head -Evans Genera Dry HD Any related answers are greatly appreciated :bd
Drum tuning is a little science and a little art...plus just dumb luck from time to time. But here are the basics of drum tuning: - Make sure the heads are in good shape and properly seated. (We'll assume here that the bearing edges are all in good shape.) - Evenly tension the batter heads so that they provide a good stick rebound. - Then evenly tension the resonant heads to achieve the basic pitch you want on each drum. At this point you should have drums that will provide a proper stick rebound and that are in the neighborhood of how you want them to sound. Now you can GRADUALLY tweak them to try to fine tune each drum. The snare drum is a bit more complicated because in addition to rebound and pitch you have the snare adjustment to deal with. But you just need to make certain the snares are installed properly and centered, and then gradually apply tension to them until you get the snare sound you want. Shell composition and size, head type, tuning, bearing edge specs, ambient acoustics- all of these things effect the sound of a particular drum. But you have to learn to deal with these things as part of being a drummer. Good luck!
