Best order of things to upgrade on a drum set?
I've got a PDP birch shell kit (10, 12, and 14-inch toms) with Zildjian A Custom cymbals (16 and 18 inch crashes, 20 inch ride) that have some pretty nice stands. Also have a Gibraltar Double Bass pedal, a 10-inch Wuhan Splash, and a 12-inch Wuhan China. The heads are used Remos, along with an Aquarian Superkick I bass drum head that has a kick pad. The back bass drum head and all the heads on the bottom of the toms are the ones that came with the kit. What should I be looking to upgrade on it next?
uh, with a kit like that you really don't need to upgrade anything. If you really wanna upgrade something, pretty much the only thing you can do is add a few more splashes maybe an 8" and possibly another crash (14") from something other than Zildjian Custom A. You could also get mufflers for your toms, which just eliminates the ring after the strike and makes the head more bouncy. And the last possiblity i have would be to add aux. percussion to your kit (i.e. a bass drum cowbell mount, a tambourine holder, or a a triangle holder).
