What is the difference between Gretsch Drum's Catalina Maple set and the Renown Maple set?
What makes the Gretsch Catalina Maple drum set significantly cheaper than Gretsch's Renown Maple kit if both sets are 6-ply maple shells?
I'd say the finishes on the Renown's are much higher quality. The renowns also have an interior coating (kinda looks like a greyish metal) which helps maintain a stronger shell and increase attack. The Renowns are better when it comes to quality, but soundwise, there probably won't be a huge difference
